About Chase Kyes
Chase Kyes is an American amateur golfer from Hoover, Alabama, where he grew up at the Greystone Golf & Country Club and developed his game after switching from baseball as a junior. At Spain Park High School he won three individual Alabama state championships, joining a short list of players to claim at least three AHSAA individual titles, and he ranked among the top recruits in the class of 2025. He originally committed to Alabama before signing with the University of Tennessee.
Kyes completed his freshman season for the Volunteers in 2026, capping the year with a tie for 49th at the NCAA Championship in California. Days later he entered U.S. Open final qualifying at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Georgia, the 36-hole one-day event known as "Golf's Longest Day."
He shot rounds of 67 and 66 to finish at 11 under par, tying for fourth and securing one of five available spots, a stroke clear of the alternates. The result earned him a place in the field for the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, June 18-21, 2026. In a post-round interview that drew wide attention, Kyes admitted he had not realized the championship was only a week away.
