After playing four seasons at the University of Virginia, Walker stepped away from golf entirely and took a job waiting tables while enrolling in astrophysics classes at the University of North Florida. He eventually decided the gravitational pull of competitive golf was too strong, returned to the sport, and earned his PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024. His T6 at the 2025 PLAYERS Championship proved the detour was worth every orbit.
