About Vaughn Harber
Vaughn Harber is an amateur golfer from Columbus, Ohio, and a member of the Ohio State men's golf team. He came up through Gahanna St. Matthew School and Columbus St. Francis DeSales High School, where he was twice named Ohio District Player of the Year. As a senior in October 2023, he won the OHSAA Division I individual state title on Ohio State's Scarlet Course, closing with a 66 to finish at 135 and break the championship's 36-hole scoring record.
At Ohio State, Harber developed into one of the Buckeyes' top players. During the 2025-26 season he recorded a career-best fourth-place finish at 6-under par at the Buckeye Classic (70-68-72) and led the team in the opening round of the Big Ten Championship with a 1-under 69.
Harber qualified for the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills through Final Qualifying at The Lakes Golf and Country Club in Westerville, Ohio. He played the closing stretch in 5 under and shot rounds of 67 and 68 for a 5-under 135 total, then won a four-man playoff for the final qualifying spot. It marked his first major championship start. Former Buckeye Neal Shipley also qualified at the same site, giving Ohio State two players in the field.
